Routing and account number is invalid by Ronmar

Hello Shopify Masters,

I was setting up shopify payments to a store and I used my own bank account for testing purposes.

Now the website will soon go live and I need to change its credentials. Can someone help me out as I am getting this error whenever I wanted to update my bank account details.

Should I deactivate the payments first? If I deactivate it, can I register with a new one again?

Thanks in advance.

Ronmar

Hi Ronmar,

Nick here from Shopify.

Great question. To change the credentials here you would not even need to de-activate the payment gateway to do so. Let's go through the steps on how to do this below:

  1.  Settings > Payment providers.
  2. Shopify Payments section, click Edit.
  3. In the Bank account box, click edit.
  4. Click Save.

This can only be done by the Account Owner (AO) for security reasons. We have a great guide going through all these steps also which you can find here. If you are having any trouble connecting your account or getting any errors in this process, could you please reach out to our support team directly about this from the link here, and we can have someone look into this directly for you.

All the best,

Nick

Aug. 8th, 2018 - apparently RedBubble is one of the best print on demand companies in Canada, but sadly, they aren't connected to Shopify.  More Canadians need to contact RedBubble and beg them to create a Shopify app.  Their business would increase rapidly.

I can't find any great Canadian print on demand companies with a wide offering of products (Art of Where is good, but they don't even offer t-shirts or mens clothing) and the US POD companies kill Canadians with their shipping rates.  So frustrating!

Hi there German,

My name is Evan, I’m a Guru here with Shopify.

Delivery time can definitely be a hindrance when using Aliexpress and other dropshippers far away, so you’re not alone in that. In North America merchants face similar shipping times with China Post. China Post is also one of the slower carriers, albeit cheaper than DHL, like you mentioned. One option for you here is to take a look at epacket. EPacket tends to be faster than China Post, and cheaper than DHL. While it won’t put your shipping down to 2-3 days, if tends to ship around 7-16 days. Which will make a large difference to your customers.

Factoring in Shipping times is actually something of a strategy. You’ll see multiple products on Aliexpress that appear the exact same. However, the shipping times and cost will vary slightly. It’s a good idea to choose suppliers who are able to ship with epacket or other cheaper, faster services. Verified Oberlo Suppliers are a great place to start for that. They have faster shipping times, better support and proven performance!

Amazon is a very different business model than AliExpress and your business. Amazon owns a network of warehouses all over the world, and stores the products that they’re going to ship. By distributing massive amounts of inventory all over the world, Amazon is able to ship a product in 3 days. This may be an option for you down the line if you choose to buy your products in bulk. Amazon can actually store and fulfill your products however that wouldn’t be dropshipping and would require purchasing inventory. It also may be worth looking into other dropshippers closer to your business. There may be some suppliers near you that are able to cater better to your business!

If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let me know! I'll be more than happy to help!

How to get notified of failed order fulfillment with FBA? by Dominic Merlina

We are using Amazon FBA to fulfill our orders. If a product is out of stock, the order will automatically fail with Shopify. In this case, we'll just fulfill the product manually -- but we need to be notified somehow of the failure (Currently, there is no indication on the Orders page that anything is wrong. You have to click into the order to see the failure).

Is there a way to be notified via email when an order fails? Thanks in advance.

GARANTI BANK SHOULD NOT BE THE ONLY BANK IN THE PAYMENT SYSTEM by Balasu Dundaralp

We are amazing satisfied with your system and day by day we are getting stronger;

However we have got a big problem due to Garanti Bank INC representing you in Turkey. The only negative side in your e-commerce system is - actually many of people can not prefer it just because of the virtual post system of Garanti Bank . Their principle of holding the debit inside is so huge and if e-commerce systems are the ones who would like to valued customers that should not be that way.

Here our problem is

We have got a start - up located in Turkey and has grown up %2339 within 3 years and perhaps there are several companies in Turkey like us. There is a huge sector in e-trade site but many of people can’t use Shopify due to bank policies are extremely heavy and they can not dare to even grow up. I have spent my entire savings after Garanti Bank has hold my money in custody with 25 days. Garanti Bank’s extremely bad sides are below

1. They never pay your entire debit to you after 25 days.

2. You can get started to get your money in daily basis like 2500 Turkish Liras, 3000 Turkish Liras which means they divide the money and your entire savings can not be reached after 25 days. You have to be a huge company like hundred thousands cash on the other banks which means middle size e-commerce firms can never use your e-commerce system.

3. They are obviously using the advantage of being alone with Shopify in Turkey which many of e-commerce people would like to get, however the financial terror are so heavy and it is so hard to keep on.

Let me tell you the my start up a bit.

As a pHD owner and one of the famous influencers in the cosmetic market, I started this business with so less money and became very well-known one after 3 years while using Payu System. My e-commers structure has been scaled up and some of time out problems due to high traffic in the website was alot over normal values. I prefered Shopify cause one of my old clients was using it in the past and it was the best ever. You have got a shares in Wall Street and the system is very scalable.

Garanti Bank is using being alone in Shopify’s system clearly and you need to work with other banks for payments as well.

recommend you to work with Isbank, Ziraat Bank, Yapi Kredi Bank, Vakifbank and also all of the banks should be opened to your system, otherwise Shopify will not be so big in Turkey and this elitist model will be in Garanti Bank’s arrogant system.

Are you obviously managed by Garanti Bank’s arrogant system? Or your brand and all your customers in Turkey deserve this ? If my question’s answer is yes, I am deeply sorry and we will have to make an urgent plan to change it. However my belief regarding your problem solving side is big.

I have coppied my system to Hamburg, Germany and found out my second company which is one of the biggest success and challenges being in Europe. Our second shop is www.ozonlabs.de also use the Shopify System and our online store will be active from this month. I am planning to open up many stores in Europe and also in United States however Turkey is in a big handicap with this Garanti Bank issue.

Sincerely

Hello Shopify,

I am really, let me call it, surprised. I can't even imagine that there is only one bank you're working with over there? I mean, if i imagine it would be the same over here in germany... What would happen if this bank crashes and all money would be gone? What would a company do then?

It seems like there is a huge risk to get a company completely damaged only because of this.

At least I used your system many times before in germany and know many ppl using it. There never have been any problems yet. Balasu is completely right here and I hope there will be a short and easy solution, so you may help her out. At least, this could be a very important notice to public.

But I am sure, there will be a solution.

Regards from Germany,

Mario

Need multiple box types for different product types by William Dunn

Hello,

I am new(ish) to Shopify and I am having a hard time figuring out shipping. We've been operating using only the USPS priority mail flat rate padded envelope for $6.90. We are looking to add a few things to our store like rings or glass water bottles. Currently, apparel is just fine in the current shipping method. However, customers will likely not pay $6.90 for a single ring, nor will a glass water bottle be protected in this envelope. I've reached out ot Shopify multiple times and no one really seems to have an answer. How would I go about setting up my shipment methods to allow for different packaging sizes, rates, etc. for my variation in products. I know there's apps for some of this but what ones would you suggest without breaking the bank since we are a startup company. Would you suggest using USPS or UPS directly through their own direct shipping programs? How would this be integrated with my shop?

Thanks

William

Hello Max, another question about shipping....

I'm a Canadian opening a niche print on demand Shopify store.  How does shipping work, when my address is Canadian, but the POD service is based out of the USA?

How do I optimize this for customer clarity and shipping optimization?

Thank you for any info,

Dwayne

I would like to know how Shopify Basic plan works with relation to Payment -> Shipping -> Fulfillment. Are there any links that will help me understand this flow?

We are migrating from Magento and we had USPS, FedEx, and "Pick up at Distribution Center in Commerce." for the Fulfillment options. What kind of Fulfillment options does Shopify provide with the Basic plan.?

Hey there,

I'm Ann, from the team here at Shopify :)

For starters, it's great to hear that you're in the process of migrating to Shopify! If there's anything we can help with during the process, you can definitely ask in our forums, but if you need a faster response, you can see how to reach out to our support team directly here. We're available 24/7 to help!

As for how the orders flow works, essentially, when it comes to payment, you will have the option to set up any payment gateway that's available in your area. The payment gateway will be what decided how quickly your payouts go through, what credit card rates you pay and anything else you might need to consider. You can see a list of payment gateways based on countries here. If you don't see your country listed, let me know which country it is and I can grab those details for you.

When it comes to shipping, you are completely in control of your shipping rates and what they look like. You can decide what countries you do and don't ship to, and then create rates based on weight, on price, or you can get live rates in your store. Lives rates are when all of a carts information is automatically sent to a carrier like USPS and then the correct rates are configured during the checkout so that you're never over or underpaying for shipping on your end.

When it comes to our Basic plan, in some countries, we have a few carriers available for live rates. In Canada, you can use Canada Post, and in the United States, you can use USPS, DHL Express, and UPS. Check out this page to learn more.

Finally, when it comes to fulfillment, if you are using a fulfillment company, you can do a quick search in our App Store to see if they have an app built to help you with this process. Just search for your fulfillment companies name and see if anything pops up. If not, you can add any fulfillment company to your store manually through the steps on this page. Once an order is fulfilled, all the order and customer details will then be emailed to your fulfillment company.

If you have already started a 14 day free trial, you can create a test order through the steps on this page to see what this process will look like first hand!

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions or concerns feel free to reach out to us on this thread :)

Have a great one,
Ann

A way to stop a purchase according to the shipping country & currency ? by Julie Fauvergue

Hi !
My shop ships worlwide and display 4 currencies and 3 languages.

I would like to limit the purchase in X currency to ship to X counrty. Not easy to explain.

I'm based in Brazil, so my prices in Brazilian Real are lower than in Euros or Dollars  -  because the shipping costs are included, and international shipping is more expensive.

So, basically I would like to prevent people from Europe or US to buy in the Brazilian currency. Maybe adding a code line saying "when the country destination is out of Brazil = don't sell in Brazilian currency " :)

I'll be grateful for any help or idea of how to to manage this !

Julie

USPS Flat Rate Shipping by Jeramiah Pearce

I am setting up my store and after this long downtime tonight I am noticing that there are no options to calculate shipping price based on the size of items.

I currently use Woocommerce and if someone orders items from my store, it will calculate the shipping to be priority, but as soon as it is cheaper to be medium flat rate box worthy and it fits into that box, it will populate tat price.

Any help?

Rick,

I too just discovered this frustrating piece recently. I don't want to overcharge my customers for something simple like this....I haven't found a good approach yet. How have you handled the over charging issue? I don't want to use an add on either

Appreciate the feedback

First of all...welcome to Shopify!! We developed for a competing platform for about 6 years, and the difference in all-around quality is amazing. You'll also find some lovely communities that are very active and happy to help each other out. My personal favourite is the Shopify Entrepreneurs group on Facebook.

Shopify’s standard shipping calculation options are quite basic, which is where third-party shipping calculation apps will come into play.

Our app, Intuitive Shipping, does exactly what you are looking to do. Our smart boxing algorithm will determine the best size, weight, and number of boxes required for an order so that your customers are offered the cheapest shipping price (you can also have options like express and priority for customers who want their order faster). This also means that your shipping costs you’re charging your customers are accurate so you aren’t hit with unexpected shipping costs when you go to fulfill an order. We also have a ton of other features, so there may be some things that will help you with your shipping that you haven’t thought of yet.

With any third-party shipping calculation app on Shopify, you’ll need to get the Carrier Calculated Rates feature through Shopify, which is $20/month a-la-carte, or free if you switch to annual billing. Since you’re switching from Woo, I would imagine you know you have a great business that will be around for years to come, so switching to annual billing is likely the best option. You can contact Shopify directly to get this added.

Please reach out at sharon@intuitiveshipping.com if you have any questions - we’re happy to answer any questions and help guide you through getting set up. We also offer a free 14-day trial so you can poke around and try it in your store for free :)

Warm regards,
Sharon

I am convinced this will never be addressed!

Since my last update I have had other weird shipping issues where certain people were unable to order, as an example we have a bunch of people who order from Manitoba, several were suddenly unable to order because no shipping was available, this had Shopify tech support telling me that my shipping settings were wrong. I had to point out that the setting they were pointing to related to the easy click and collect app I had to install so people could pick up, I ended up screen shotting the install instuctions back to them lol.

After several weeks with people unable to order, I ended up uninstalling the apps, ignoring the misdirection by shopify support and redoing all of the shipping details again.

Dear Shopify, if you are going to ignore issues with your platform and make people rely on 3rd party apps, you should take the time to educate your people on these apps, you clearly have underestimated the frustration YOUR customers are experiencing as a result of this approach and your collective inaction on resolving basic functionality requirements.

Or you can just continue to ignore the issues, which will ultimately drive people to your competitors.

Hi Julie - our gateway does not integrate with Shopify so I cannot help you out directly with our gateway. However, I have an idea I think might work depending on which gateway you use. If your gateway has its own fraud scrubbing program it should allow you to block orders from certain countries. If you have each of your currencies set up as a separate "processor instance" in your gateway, you could use your fraud program to block certain countries specifically to each processor (currency).
