HI Sir/Mam

I have a question more of a challenge , i would like to use the shopify service but i would like to use an API i have been given with a shopify store. the API is given by a shipping 3rd party , they will have some of my stock and calculate real time shipping rates so that when the customer can see the charge once they check out the product. i don't see much information on how i can integrate with the API the vendor has given me. Please help if there is a solution.

Thanks

Regards

KG

Hi, Knowpein.

This is Max from the Shopify Team.

It sounds like you might need a little help with either your currency settings and/or your PayPal account. I've taken a look at the Currency Codes page listed on the PayPal site and can see they have some specifications for Indian Rupees (INR). Is this the currency you were looking to use?

If that all looks good, be sure that your Shopify settings match. Head to Settings > click General > scroll to Store currency then select the correct option.

Once that's all been saved and adjusted, let us know if you run into any more issues. If you have any further questions or need some clarification, please feel free to reach out to us again.

Cheers,

Very long delivery time on Aliexpress by German Arango Lombana

I currently have two Shopify stores of shoes that work for the Colombian market mainly, since about 4 months ago. Although the start has been very hard and slow I want to keep them a little longer but I have found a very big obstacle that has prevented me from making more sales: Delivery time. All the orders that I have made (about 5) take more than 30 days to arrive. It is very difficult for customers to wait so long to receive your order when there are many other commercial portals (Mercadolibre and Linio are two of them and perhaps the most important in Colombia) that only take between 2 and 5 days to deliver their orders.

What can we do to reduce the shipping time by "China post registered air mail" and improve our business? I believe that there are many shopify dealers who are also suffering from the same. How are other merchants from Colombia, Mexico or other Latin American countries doing?

How long does it take for an order to arrive to a North American city?

If Amazon delivers orders in Colombia in 3-5 days and the products come from China, why can not we do the same?

What other shipping methods are there that are not as expensive as the EMS or DHL, which triples the value of the product?

Thanks so much

Hi there! You can absolutely work with a fulfillment center on something like this. The way it would work would be to have your manufacturing company ship your product to the fulfillment center. From there, they will be able to process your orders directly to your customers -- both domestic and international!

While this will add another step to your distribution, it will solve your international shipment issues. There are a number of companies that can perform this sort of service for you -- one of them is us over at ShipMonk! Take your time, research your options, and go with the one you feel most comfortable with. Good luck out there!

Hi, there!

Katy here from Shopify support.

First of all, congrats on your order, and on your first post here within our community too!

The ePacket shipping method is indeed available when shipping to territories and military addresses of the United States

However, as each of the sellers on AliExpress are able to determine their own selling terms, in this case, I suggest to reach out to the seller directly via Ali Express to enquire about arranging the shipment for this specific order.

They should be able to guide you based on their own terms for this directly.

I hope this helps you out, do feel free to let me know.

Hi, Dušan!

My name is Ava, I’m one of Shopify’s Gurus and I’m here to help :)

You would need to use a payment gateway that has an integration and with your countries financial institutions in order to accept credit card payments from your customers at the checkout. When you find a suitable gateway, you can set up an account with the payment gateway on their website. Once that account is created, you can add that payment gateway to your Shopify admin, creating a link between the accounts.

Could you make sure you have your account set up correctly with your payment gateway?

Alternatively, the error message you are seeing may be because this gateway is not included on the list of available services for your country. To check this out, you can visit www.shopify.com/payment-gateways, then add /your-county to the end of the URL! So for example, if you lived in Sweden it would be www.shopify.com/payment-gateways/sweden, or if you lived in Czech Republic it would be www.shopify.com/payment-gateways/czech-republic.

The list of gateways you will see there are the only ones you could use for your Shopify store. This is because Shopify has an agreement between these gateways and the financial institutions/banks of certain countries to accept payments in certain currencies. So some payment gateways are not available in certain countries.

If you have double-checked that your payment gateway account is set up correctly, and you are using a gateway available in your country, but are still seeing this error, I'd like to look into this further for you.

Would you be able to send us an email to support@shopify.com using the email address listed as the account owners? Once you have done that, you can pop back here and let me know the support ticket number you were assigned (which will be emailed to you). That way, I can pick the ticket out of the queue and take a closer look at your settings!

Let me know how you get on :)

recurringapplicationcharge: how to bill right now by Александр Захаров

Hi there,

I need advice.

We use RecurringApplicationCharge for our app's Pro-features.

1. Our customer clicks 'Activate Pro features' button and our app creates a charge (status pending).

2. Our customer accepts a charge request and charge becomes "accepted". Our app serves 'return_url' and then activate the charge.

3. A 'billing_on' property becomes +30 days from now.

The question is: how to bill that customer at the moment he accepted the charge? Actually, he purchases a monthly subscription at that moment.

Thanks.

Hi Greg,

Katy here from Shopify- thanks for reaching out.

That is interesting. I have taken a look at your store, and can see that orders appear as fulfilled at the moment. Have you manually done so within the Shopify admin?

I've sent you an email so we can verify your details to take a closer look at some examples, and also loop in Shippo too if necessary.

Do feel free to reply to me when you can.

Cheers,

Katy

So I've been having the same issue and just came to the conclusion that the issue lies with PayPal and probably isn't fixable.

Its related to a country restriction.

I used a VPN to test the theory.

I tested the following countries:

> United States - Account Optional Working

United Kingdom - Account Optional Not Working

South Africa - Account Optional Not working

> Canada - Account Optional Working

Germany - Account Optional Not Working

Holland - Account Optional Not working

> India - Account Optional Working

> Singapore - Account Optional Working

Thus if our main target market is the United States and Canada this shouldn't be an issue though it will be an issue for a big majority of countries.

At least its a relief for anyone whos target market is in the US and CAD.

You can test it yourself using a VPN on a phone or computer.

Best Regards

Hi!

Ted here from Shopify. :-)

Is this error still appearing for you? If so, it's not a known issue so we can for sure take a look into this with you. If it's still appearing, could you email support@shopify.com from the email address you use to sign into Shopify? When you do, you should receive an automated email back with a ticket number assigned. If you let me know what that ticket number is, I'll raise it further.

Feel free to reach out to our Support team any time as well. We're here 24/7 via Facebook, Twitter, chats, emails and phone. Just click 'talk to support’ for some more info.

Thanks a mill!

Adding myself to this, I hope it gets fixed soon. Its so obvious that trying to justify it (although i appreciate the effort), shows a massive distance between developers and buisness people.

Hi there, chapperzz!

It sounds like what you need is a streamlined app integration that achieves this exact purpose! I would personally recommend Customify as this allows for a pretty slick preview of their message overtop stock product photos. Definitely one of the more refined and professional approaches to implementing this functionality!

That said, if you’re looking to utilise something outside of a monthly-paid app, we do have this great guide on how to code the feature into one’s store manually, which you can view here. While we don’t support this tutorial directly, and it does involve some deeper-level coding, this may be something you consider enlisting an expert in. Many such individuals can be found for hire on our Shopify Experts Marketplace.

I have also heard of some merchants successfully using the free app Infinite Options for implementing this. A bit more rudimentary, but among other features, it has the option to add a text field for customers. Definitely seems like a good middle-ground consideration for you!

Lastly, you could consider enlisting in the Cart Notes feature. This would be another free means allow customers the ability to add custom messages. For this to work, you would need notation on the products descriptions themselves indicating that the unique messages be submitted on the cart page, with reference to which product they are meant to be assigned to. A bit more of a workaround than the other offerings I’ve mentioned here, but if you’re looking for a simpler approach to tide you over while you build up to something more refined, this could be for you.

Hope that helps!

Kind Regards,

Tom | Shopify Employee

at payment providers settings it shows about setting up merchat account tha be setup after first sale only.

so how should proceed with this should I pay for first order in dollars and check for mail from paypal  for setting up account.

there should be a solution to this right ?

Your store accepts PayPal payments with PayPal Express Checkout. A PayPal button will display during checkout.

After your first sale, PayPal will email you at **********@gmail.com with instructions for setting up a PayPal Merchant account and claiming your funds.

Issue with Shipping Estimator in Firefox & IE by Adrian

Hello everyone,

I'm having a needle in the haystack issue with this one. The shipping estimator works fine in Google Chrome however it fails in Firefox & IE 11. All I'm getting from Firefox is:

TypeError: data is undefined

You can replicate this error by:

  1. Going to www.farmorganica.com adding an item to the cart.
  2. Click view cart
  3. Go to the Estimate Shipping Cost section and enter valid data
  4. Click Calculate (page refreshes and no shipping estimates are shown)

If you follow the same procedure in Chrome everything works as expected (estimates are shown and the page doesn't refresh).

I've spent so much time on this and I'm sure the answer is obvious. Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Hi, Adrian!

My name is Jade, I am with the Social Care Team at Shopify.

I took a look at the troubleshooting steps in our help document Adding a shipping rates calculator and towards the bottom, it recommends changing the HTML of your currency settings. Here are the steps to follow:

1) In your Shopify admin click Settings > General

2) Where it says Store Currency click Change Format

4) If your currency settings look like Image A, you'll want to copy the text and paste it into a Notepad or Word document for safe keeping. Next, change the text so that they look like Image B. If your currency is in USD or something else, you'll see that abbreviation listed instead of CAD (Canadian dollar).

Image A

Image B

5) Click Save when you're done.

This should help to fix your shipping rates calculator settings. If you have any issues, you have the original text saved on that Word document that you can paste back in. If you're still seeing this issue our Support Team is available 24/7 to help. I'll be away on vacation days soon so I may not see if you reply back to this forum post in time. You can also reach the Social Care Team directly on the Shopify Facebook Page and a representative will be happy to help. You'll want to send a link to this forum post so they can see our conversation.

Best wishes with your business!
